Content Creation

As an experienced writer with a background in research, summarizing, and client-facing communications, I can turn vague concepts into comprehensive and compelling written word.

I am actively involved in University of Chicago’s style/editing program, so I can ensure you that my drafts will have little to no errors or inconsistencies.

You won’t have to lift a finger; I will take care of eloquently fitting what you want to say into the amount of space you have to say it.

Most recently…

I’ve been assisting EDEN+, a boutique fundraising firm, in creating strategic communication materials for nonprofits around the country.

And…

I authored over 20 blog posts about local, state, and national parks for an Arizona travel agency.

Online Research

Tip: if you’re in need of online research, someone with a degree in History and Political Science is a great choice. I have years of experience executing large swaths of research and accurately summarizing information in the form of concise profiles, briefs, and reports.

I am familiar with JSTOR, WealthEngine, DonorLead, Blackbaud, Raiser’s Edge, Quorum, Foundation Center, public records, and several other softwares. In other words: I know the in’s and out’s of digging deep on difficult-to-locate people or topics.

Most recently…

With the help of Foundation Center and a number of other online databases, I created a list of over 70 potential grants for a Des Moines Recycling Center.

And…

I utilized WealthEngine, DonorLead, public records, and giving histories to craft dozens of donor prospect profiles for an Iowa hospital’s capital campaign team—often beginning with nothing but a name and an address.

Copy Editing

Take it from someone who has consulted dozens of nonprofits and participated in University of Chicago’s editing certificate program: far too many opportunities for effective communication and meaningful connection are missed as a result of poor editing.

I have the power to fill this gap for you.

Your ideas must be portrayed by yours words. I will make those words sound so appealing—and read so effortlessly—that they drive your audience to take action.

Most recently…

I’ve been copyediting a memoir manuscript.

And…

I consulted for several nonprofit clients running capital campaigns. In this role, I was responsible for listening to my client’s goal(s) and then editing their fundraising mission statements, long-form materials, newspaper inserts, and mailings. Not only was I fixing technical errors, but I was also ensuring that the history and current landscape of their unique and vibrant cultures were captured.

Odd Jobs

I wear many hats. My experience as a consultant in the nonprofit industry has equipped me with the skills to work efficiently, enthusiastically, and effectively on any task handed to me.

Have an odd job? I can help! Whether you need assistance with oral-interview transcription, creating PowerPoints, organizing email campaigns, utilizing MailMerge, or inputting data, simply shoot me an email about what you need help with and we’ll work something out.

Most recently…

I was hired-on by a busy consultant to craft promotional materials that highlighted an array of their clients’ capital campaign cases and unique communities.

And…

I transcribed several hours worth of a city town hall meeting for a board member. This required closely following and distinguishing over twelve voices while maintaining my client’s style guide formatting.

I’m looking forward to hearing how our partnership can make your life easier.
